Making the promise a reality by the Federal Government The approval for the housing is coming twenty seven years after the proposal was made under the military government of Nigeria .

This is the second time Nigeria has been crown champions of the continent most prestigious competitions, the third Afcon trophy to Nigeria .was won in 2003 in South Africa .
A memo by Nigeria Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola to the president got the blessing of the sports loving president of Nigeria , the President approved the allocations in their states of preference, noting that six players and three technical crews received their houses already.
The players are: Peter Rufai, Alloy Agu, Ike Shorounmu, Uche Okechukwu, Samson Siasia, Efan Ekoku, Sunday Oliseh, Benedict Iroha, Isaac Semitoje, Mutiu Adepoju, Emmanuel Amunike, Victor Ikpeba, Austin Eguavoen and Wilfred Agbonavbare (Deceased).
Others are: Uche Okafor (Deceased), Thompson Oliha (Deceased), Stephen Keshi (Deceased), Christian Chukwu, Dr Akin Amao, Stephen Edema, Col. A Asielue and B. Aromasodun.
Apart from the 1994 football team that have been rewarded after 27 years some athletes in Nigeria are hoping that the same luck will come their soon.
