NEW YORK — Irad Ortiz Jr. rode his 3,000th profession winner Thursday within the fifth race at Belmont Park.
The 29-year-old jockey from Puerto Rico rode Saratoga Kisses to an 8¼-length victory for coach and co-owner Rudy Rodriguez.
Ortiz is fifteenth on the profession earnings record, totaling over $220 million in purses since his profession started in 2011. In line with racing database Equibase, Ortiz’s complete wins embrace 92 from Puerto Rico.
He has gained three consecutive Eclipse Awards because the nation’s high jockey, having led all North American riders in wins and earnings yearly since 2017.
