Fred {Couples} (63) makes ace, builds five-shot lead at Boeing Basic

SNOQUALMIE, Wash. — Fred {Couples} made a hole-in-one in a spherical of 9-under 63 on Saturday and constructed a five-shot lead after two rounds of the Boeing Basic, his hometown event that he’s attempting to win for the primary time.

{Couples} made the ace on No. 9, utilizing a four iron on the 203-yard gap. It was the spotlight of one other stable day from the Seattle native, who has posted consecutive bogey-free rounds.

David Toms rebounded from a first-round 70 with a 9-under 63, and was tied for second at 11 beneath with Paul Broadhurst, who adopted a gap 66 with a 67. Bernhard Langer (68), Ken Duke (66) and Stephen Leaney (68) are one other stroke again at 10 beneath.
